Gerwyn the Gentle

Pontyddim legend tells of Gerwyn the Gentle, who asked King Drunwen for the hand of his daughter Aderyn in marriage. Drunwen tasked Gerwyn to slay the beast that haunted the river. Gerwyn, a gentle man was a beast himself on the field of battle, however on that day his strength failed and the beast devoured him. A stone marker was placed to mark the place he fell. Aderyn never married.
