Iona and the birth of Man

Like the Biblical Eve, Pontyddim has its First Woman. The tale of Iona tells of the gods creating her from their own breath in order to be the fire that quells the darkness of winter. Next, they made man to be her companion, but man was seduced by Tristessa, sent by the darkness in order to bring chaos to the new world. Iona cursed Tristessa to spend eternity in the shadows, and thus the ‘She’ was born.
